Sometimes called Firewheel, sometimes Indian Blanket, its Latin name is Gaillardia pulchella. This gorgeous flower is in the daisy family and is perhaps my favorite. Bees and butterflies love them, too. One day, in the not-too-distant future, my backyard will be filled with them, along with coneflower, echinacea, and milkweed. Maybe I’ll even outwit the squirrels and be able to grow a vegetable garden one day.
