“The function of art is to do more than tell it like it is- it’s to imagine what’s possible.” ~ bell hooks

start to finish

Here we see the beginning of finals week and the end of finals week. Seems like it should have been reversed, doesn’t it? Start with gloom, end with sun, because on Monday, every person I saw on campus had the look of dread. Nobody was looking up. They weren’t even on their phones. It was all heads down, stare at the walk, and if bubble quotes were a real thing they’d have been popping out over everyone’s heads saying “OMG, what have I done?” “I don’t remember the x formula.” “I’m doomed!” “$^%!” and so on. Once you’ve seen that look, you know it. I chose not to stare at the walk with bubble quotes following me like rain clouds even though I had my own finals to deal with: “What’s a major element in  bronze and brass?” I took pictures of the glorious sycamore tree instead. I absolutely love sycamores, and the campus has several that are fantastic. So, now, finals are over. Onward and upward.
