More than once I’ve passed Laura Hall in the stacks. There she’ll be, up to her elbows in books; moving, shifting, moving, shifting. I always stop for a chat, and an hour later, I make it back to my desk. Always I come away smarter, and my heart feels glad. That happened today. I went back with my camera, but she was gone like a flash. No matter. She’s touched every book, so part of her good spirit lingers here even if she’s not in the picture.
