“For last year’s words
belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words
await another voice
And to make an end
is to make a beginning.”
~ T.S. Eliot
I am partying hard this New Year’s Eve. I tried a new recipe for roast beast and invited Shero and Stacy over to share it. It was good. Not great (meat was too tough for my liking), but good. Finished it off with an iced lemon pound cake. The sink soon clogged as the dishwasher emptied, so I spent some time working on that before I did two loads of laundry. I mean, I am partying like it’s 1999 up in here. When I finally sat down, I continued watching the first seven seasons of The Great British Baking Show, which Crystal told me was available on Roku (thank you, HRB). I had not seen these seasons since they aired (the first in 2012). While I watched the opening episode of season 2, I made a little Happy New Year 2026 card using a couple of my ornaments. Shero gave me the little cat in a boot, and Elaine Heis crocheted the sweet angel. I was gifted both this year, and it seemed only fitting that they should help me see 2025 out the door. I went with a hokey antique look because I often prefer vintage cards – Christmas cards, postcards, just cards in general. Anyway, Happy New Year, friends. I hope 2026 brings you all the joy and happiness, health and prosperity you deserve. This is my last post of the 14th year of The Outhouse, and my 5,113th post. Nobody can accuse me of lacking commitment. Committed (should be) is maybe the word they’d use. I mean, this was a one-year project, yet here we are, partying on New Year’s Eve and already looking forward to tomorrow’s post. 2026 is going to be a great year. It just is.
