I’ve got a whole herd of aunts and uncles since Hero is one of 14 children. A bunch of them were still at home when I was born. From the weekend’s slideshow comes an adorable photo with my two youngest uncles James Trent (left) and Danny (right). James was the youngest of the Terry children. There’s just over six years between us, so he would have been dialing in on 8 years old in this photo. He died from cancer in 2016. Danny would have been 11 or 12 in the photo. He recently retired as the 911 dispatcher for Morgan County. My aunt Charleen (below, right) is the youngest of the Terry sisters. She was 13 when I was born. Today, at 69, she’s still got those dimples. My aunt Lois Nell (left, holding me) is one of the middle sisters. She was maybe 19 in this photo. She had probably moved to Lexington by then, living at the YWCA while she got up on her feet, and happened to be home for a weekend visit. I may be an only child, but I come from a very big family. It was a real honor to grow up with them.
