From here, the integration of baseball was brokered. Such was the history lesson from last Saturday. If you’re not familiar, former two-time Kentucky Governor A.B. “Happy” Chandler became Commissioner of Baseball in 1945, and in 1947, he enabled Jackie Robinson to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers breaking the color barrier and integrating professional baseball for all players regardless of color. The work to make that happen was done here at his cabin in Versailles, Kentucky.
