“Not using your energy to hate others is one of the highest forms of self-care.” ~ Unknown
Ya know, it’s a lot harder on one’s muscles to hold a chainsaw above one’s head for hours than I gave credit. I was pretty sore by the time all this chopping was done, and an overnight sleep didn’t help. The picture doesn’t convey just how much I cut down, either. The largest apple tree is in Shero’s yard, and since half of that tree was dead, half of it had to come down. It really tested my little chainsaw, and it did just fine, I’m happy to report. That tree was mature when I moved in beside it in 2007, and after Chainsaw Charlie got up in years, he could no longer prune it. It was probably 25 feet tall. My tallest apple tree was planted as a sapling in 2009, and had not been pruned in, I’m ashamed to say, probably 6-8 years. It was easily 20 feet tall and leaning into the power line. I said a prayer, fired up the chainsaw, and felled it away from the line. Go me! I only tripped and fell once, only got hit in the head by a falling limb once (it was tiny), only got sawdust in my eye once. I mean, it was a stellar day despite being made aware of my age and poor physical condition. Sacrifices must be made.
