I might be that odd and eccentric person your mother warned you about. I had the occasion to pass the doomed greenhouses again, except this time, I investigated. The temp might have been -4°, but I needed a closer look. I snapped until my fingers went numb. It didn’t take long.
What a lovely, and kind of sad, surprise finding the corn. Who knows what I would have found if I actually stepped inside. Perhaps next time.
