“May I always remain the person who talks to animals, collects random treasures, pauses for sunsets, picks wildflowers, and who doesn’t mind being a little weird.” ~ Unknown
I got to see Robin and Mike early this morning when they came to Lexington to pick up a couch. It’s always a good time to talk with these two. It’s a pity everyone doesn’t have friends like them. They’re both good role models, two of the hardest-working people I’ve ever known, and would give you the shirts off their backs if you needed it. They grew up near my grandparents and went to school with my youngest aunt and uncles. Robin told me a story about my Grandfather Terry, where he brought a wheelbarrow loaded with pennies into the bank where she was working to be counted and rolled. One of my uncles had to help him, and he carried in an additional jug of pennies that wouldn’t fit in the wheelbarrow. How Papaw managed to get a wheelbarrow of pennies to the bank is still a mystery, but it gives me something to ask uncles Harold and Darrel when next I see them. These are the kinds of stories that make life colorful and hilarious. Robin and Mike add to that joy every time I see them. Grateful doesn’t suffice for them in my world. They’re family.
