This summer, the Professional Development Committee put together three tours that took Library staff and faculty to nearby libraries or archives. Today, the last of the three tours, was at Shaker Village. This cleverly disguised climate-controlled archive holds hundreds of chairs and other furniture, special Shaker items, and a few journals and other ephemera. Amy Laub, the Libraries Federal Depository Librarian and weaver, was thrilled by the Shaker loom behind her. Later in the tour, Amy, Jan Carver, Taylor Leigh, and Crystal enjoyed a rare Shaker journal. It was a gorgeous day, perfect for a visit to Shakertown, and I think it’s safe to say everyone learned something new and thoroughly enjoyed the event. Amy really loved it, and so did I.
