Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear.”   ~Thich Nhat Hanh

yesterday’s combination

In the bowels of UK’s Patterson Office Tower sits the campus post office. These beautiful, tiny mailboxes speak of a simpler time. Email was science fiction. Workers cared about the quality of their work. Their livelihoods more likely rewarded with extra pay than shipped overseas or automated. But, Email is real. The U.S. Postal Service is dying a slow, certain death. Everything that can be automated, is, which has only served to make us busier and more miserable on the whole. For a few brief moments I imagine postal workers sorting white envelopes so the homesick students can read their day’s comfort. It warms me.
