“You have no control over who people think you are. So don’t worry about it. Be kind to yourself and go where the kindness is.” ~ Anna Grace Taylor

brother from another mother

So many men close to me have died – Rick Hayes, Mark Collinsworth, Jim Brown, Duane Ruth, Lance Hughes – but despite their deep losses to my soul, God and the Universe have shown mercy and allowed my brother from another mother, Greg Gross, to remain on this plane with me. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for that. Tonight, I got to see Greg for a little while. He truly is a brother to me, and he’s like a son to my parents. They refer to him as son, and he calls them mom and pops. We’ve been through a lot together in our 56 years, and I am grateful for every minute of it, even when it was awful. He has always supported my endeavors from music to art to academia, even defending me when one of our high school classmates voiced his disappointment when I stopped touring to go to college. Apparently, he thought a touring musician’s life was a far sexier profession than it really is. My time with Greg wasn’t long enough, it never is, but I’ll take a short visit over no chance of a visit any day. I am so, so, so, blessed because of Greg. I look forward to many adventures with him in the not too distant future. Mission: Highclere Castle! It’s gonna happen.
