“The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.” ~Anonymous
I awoke early and put out my flag. I do this every year in tribute to my mother and father who both served in the Army. I do it for my uncles Ralph Paul (KIA Vietnam ’69), Randolph, Phillip, Ralph Keith, and Eugene Adams; cousins Brian and Jeff; dearest friends Buddy Dulen, Tim Gevedon, Carl Vance, Jim Hanson, Lydia Vanderburg, Bryan Bartlett, and Regina Barnett. I do it for everyone I’ve known who has served. I also do it for people who serve their fellow man in some other capacity. They help at soup kitchens and homeless shelters; hospitals and firehouses; even the baggers at the grocery with just a kind word and a smile. No matter how we feel about our collective direction, leaders, and policies; regardless of skin color, religion, or sexual preference, we share one thing; this country. It ain’t perfect but it’s better than most.
