“A bend in the road is not the end of the road, unless you fail to make the turn.”

The weather could not have been better; mid-70’s, low humidity, and one tiny cloud that high-tailed it to the state line right fast. It was the perfect day for the Fourth of July. At an hour and thrity-five minutes, Lexington’s parade was the longest I ever remember. If the kids were expecting floats, candy, and Shriners in funny cars they were disappointed. There were a couple of floats, little candy, and no Shriners at all. They’d all been replaced by politicians. I’ve never seen so many in one place. It didn’t matter, though. I had a great time. Then, we grilled out, watched lightning bugs, and played with sparklers like we were children. It was a beautiful day.
