“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” ~ Albert Schweitzer

on a good day
on a good day

For dad’s retirement, the bank is sending he and mom on a trip for nearly two weeks out west: Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, the Grand Canyon AND Las Vegas – all in one trip. A trip of a lifetime. I went yesterday to get Crackerjack because they were leaving on Thursday. Today, mom ended up in the hospital on IV antibiotics with a serious bacterial infection (perhaps MRSA) caused by a puncture in her arm from a rose thorn. I didn’t notice anything wrong with her yesterday, but trust me when I say you can absolutely tell it today. She can’t travel even if she is out of the hospital by Thursday, which is, frankly, unlikely. She is broken hearted. I’m broken hearted for her. She was especially upset because we’d had such a good day together yesterday, as evidenced from her smile. Dad, well, dad takes everything in stride. I love his attitude. I recommend it.
