other side of the tracks
Today, I drove home from work. I took the same route, saw the same houses, fought the same traffic. A block past the railroad tracks, I pulled over. Without hesitation I turned around and went back to the tracks. No sooner had I gotten out of the car that a train blew its whistle. I laughed out loud. Traffic backed up; tanker car after graffitied tanker car whizzed by. Camera in hand, I snapped one direction and then the other. I’ve wanted to shoot this train intersection for five years. I’m gonna do it again.
