“Every moment is a new chance.” ~ Unknown
These images are from a German newspaper, Puck, printed in New York around the turn of the 20th Century. It was another discovery made from moving the archive out of the building. It’s a bound journal of only the front and back pages of the paper. It’s clearly a politically opinionated rag, and apparently, the editors or cartoonist didn’t much care for Teddy Roosevelt since they made him into a chicken. I miss this kind of editorializing. They were serious without taking themselves too seriously. I think it’s called a sense of humor, which we are sorely lacking these days. In any case, I appreciate the artistry and use of color in the prints.
