“A man whispered, ‘Creator speak to me,‘ and a meadowlark sang. But, the man did not hear. So the man yelled, ‘Universe, speak to me,‘ and the thunder rolled across the sky. But, the man did not listen. The man looked around and said, ‘let me see you,‘ and a star shined brightly. But the man did not see. And, the man shouted, ‘show me a miracle,‘ and, a life was born. But the man did not notice. So, the man cried out in despair, ‘Touch me, and let me know you are here.‘ Whereupon, the Great Mystery touched the man. But, the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on. Don’t miss out on a blessing because it isn’t packaged the way you expect.” ~ Unknown

The first half of June was storm after storm after storm. You might remember my friend Jeff’s tree from a post I did from 2018. The tree was estimated to be between 150 and 300 years old. This is a three story house so one can figure the height to be somewhere between 70 and 90 feet. At least it used to be. This photo was last Sunday after a straight-line wind tore through Jeff’s neighborhood. Fortunately, it broke away from the house, missing the neighbors and the power lines. The portion that fell was still alive, and this was far from the only downed tree in the neighborhood, so those were some pretty fierce winds. It broke my heart to see the mighty tree battered so. I’m glad I caught a good photo of it before this happened.
