I had some time to spend downtown while I waited for the car to be maintained. I went searching for churches, of course. The Coors beer truck parked in front of Christ Church Cathedral made me laugh. Next block over is First Presbyterian, which you might remember from yesterday’s pipe organ shot. I thought I’d take a look at it from the outside this time. Despite the Kentucky summer heat and humidity, it was a wonderful exploration. I feel like I’m looking at the big picture of sacred spaces right now. I’m paying attention, trying to absorb what sacred spaces mean on the surface. It’s like circling the drain, and when I’ve built up enough centrifugal force, I’ll sink a little deeper. I hope you don’t mind the journey.
