“Love is the most powerful force in the universe, it can heal, inspire, and bring us closer.”
~ David Bennett

Twenty five years ago me and Kiya made a record. Then 15 year old Susan Stewart loved it. I met and became fast friends with 40 year old Susan last year. That’s when I found out she’d been a big fan of the band. Kiya just happened to come to town on an evening Susan didn’t have to work, so she joined us for dinner. I couldn’t help but take this picture. I think it’s awesome. I hope for Susan’s sake it was worth the wait.
Back inside, the show was a real treat. Kiya’s new musical partner, Christa Hillhouse (right), made her first Lexington appearance. We took it easy on her since she was meeting all of Kiya’s friends at once – a tad overwhelming, I’m sure. I’m happy to report she survived. Kiya’s life partner, Meg Barnhouse (left), sat in and played three of her original tunes. Boy, did she blow the crowd away with her incredibly soulful voice. What a truly pleasant surprise. The only drawback to an otherwise perfect evening was that I didn’t get to spend enough time with Kiya. Next time, though. Next time.
