“You deserve to be in an environment that bring out the softness in you, not the survival in you.” ~ Ronne Brown

groundhog friend

I came out of the house this evening and saw a very large squirrel; at least, I thought it was a squirrel because it was facing the neighbor’s house. I became suspicious, so I waited for it to turn around. It was an adolescent groundhog. Of all the wildlife in the neighborhood, I think this is the first groundhog I’ve seen. It’s certainly the first in my yard. Unfortunately, s/he didn’t seem quite with it. S/he was slow to acknowledge me and, with a tilt, moved slightly to one side, and did so quite slowly. It was not aggressive at all. In fact, it looks like it was looking at me with wonder in the left photo because it was. It looked at me for a long time as I talked softly. Lord Basil George Heybuddy aka Pogo was incensed by the intruder, as you might imagine. Still, the groundhog was nonplussed by the barking. I went on about my business and left her/him to do the same. I hope it isn’t ill or injured. You can see what I mean in the short video below.
