These men stopped me in my tracks this morning at the Farmer’s Market. The man in the Gulf cap – Roger or Clay I don’t know which – especially so. He reminded me so very much of my Papaw Adams in every way; the way he was dressed, the way he sang and played guitar (Papaw sang and played guitar and banjo); his skinny arms, drooping glasses, even his high-water trousers revealing his perfect white socks all were just like Papaw. I said as much to Annie Bassoni and Stacy Yelton. Apparently, he was channelling Annie’s Papaw, too, for he had a Gulf cap as well, she said. I will go back to the Farmer’s Market just to hear Roger and Clay.
Of course I couldn’t ignore the motorcycle. Not because I love to ride, I don’t, but because they’re beautiful machines.
