“You are the greatest project you’ll ever work on. Restart. Reset. Refocus. As many times as you need. Just don’t give up.” ~ Unknown

First, it was Humanities Advocacy training for tomorrow’s mission to The Hill to advocate for Humanities funding with our state representatives (advocates Catherine Brereton, Jennifer Cramer, and Mary Sheridan below). Really, we’ll meet with their minions, not the reps themselves, which is more than fine with me. But the best part of the day was hanging out with Catherine Brereton. As usual, we have had some of the best conversations, as we always do, and a couple of super fun adventures in between, like trips to the National Museum of Art to see the Dorothea Lange exhibit, where security first yelled at me because, apparently, I was pointing too close to one of her prints (behind glass by the way), then they stalked us through the four of five rooms of the exhibit, and then they told Catherine she had to leave because she had a closed bottle of water….that she bought at their cafe with no sign that said ‘No food or drink.’ Frankly, it was a creepy experience for us both. So we went to the National Portrait Gallery, where we made up for the rudeness with gorgeous art and acts of defiance (see the hat for inspiration). And now, rest for tomorrow’s advocacy. I’ve never done this before, and as often as I’ve been to DC, I’ve never been to Capital Hill. Tomorrow will be very interesting if nothing else.
