I do not understand people who continue to champion mediocrity – the human spirit is supposed to be challenged – it’s how great acts are achieved!” ~ Scott McClatchy

Marie Dale and I, along with many of our colleagues, attended a retirement reception for our friend and co-worker Brad Carrington (left). Brad has always been a ray of sunshine, and his retirement from UK Libraries is a real loss. But not for him. I’ve never seen anyone so happy as I saw Brad today as he explained each projected slide of his new home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, his new job as Chief of the Technical Services Bureau at New Mexico State Library, his partner of 20+ years whom he married in New Mexico just last year, and the view from his new backyard. He was simply a glowing light of love, and I couldn’t be happier for him. I will miss him, yes, but any time you can walk out of one life and into a better one, you deserve a pat on the back. Dear Brad, well done, my friend, and thank you for being a light in the world.
