“At the end of the day, the position is just a position, a title is just a title, and those things come and go. It’s really your essence and your values that are important.” ~ Queen Rania of Jordan

I left the office in a light drizzle, forging ahead with no umbrella. My mind drifted back to Malone, to the country where I grew up. I’ve lost count the times I played in the rain. I was never afraid to get wet or dirty or both. It added an extra something to the experience. Those childhood experiences, those carefree moments when it doesn’t matter if you’re soaked to the bone are some of the things we grow out of, unfortunately. Adults are supposed to fuss about being caught out in the rain. Our hair becomes a mess, our immune systems’ taxed. Today, for ten glorious minutes, I let the rain wet my hair, and I enjoyed every drop. I was dry before I got home. No harm, no foul. Just pure gratitude for a childhood of springtime rains that didn’t kill me.
