“We need to be people who help heal hearts we didn’t break, because those kinds of people have healed us, too.” ~ Melissa Helton
My friends at the Bluegrass Trust were kind enough to let me use their offices at Hopemont to give my presentation last Friday. As I wandered through the back garden, I saw this statue of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. I thought it fitting since I’d just spoken to the squirrel in the street, who did not then return the gesture. When I finish this thesis and have a life outside again, I will fix my yard and get a St. Francis statue for my pet cemetery. Maybe the squirrels will speak to him. Somebody tell me the best place to acquire a lovely St. Francis piece.
