I did photos for the Blue Grass Trust Preservation Awards last weekend. I was forced to use a flash, which I never do, and of course, it promptly stopped working when the awards started. I hate a flash, which is why I never use one. I hate how they make people look fake, but they are a necessary evil in some situations, and this was one of those situations. I needed it to work, and it quit on me. I stepped out to the car to grab more batteries, just in case, when I accidentally popped this. I’m calling it a self-portrait. What you don’t see is sweat. It rolled into my eyes and down my back, and my hair was soaked. I didn’t care. I was happy to do what I could to help BGT. They’re awfully sweet to let me practice on them.
