This sweet little boy is two years old today. They had his birthday party yesterday of course, but because I was with my piano peeps, I missed the cake and presents portion of the party. No matter, his little cake face was all I needed to see. I was bent down on one knee looking at my camera when I felt a little hand gently touch my arm. I looked up and it was Riley, with his whole hand pressed lightly on my arm, staring intently. When I smiled, he smiled back, then he hugged me for the first time ever. My heart melted. Maybe that’s the first time he really saw me without the camera in my face. I don’t know why he did it, but it was a moment I won’t forget. Happy Birthday, little man. You’re the prettiest cake face I’ve ever seen.
