“I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter.” ~ Walt Disney

Mike and I love drums. He loves playing so much it’s infectious and I always enjoy our talks about drums and drumming. He gets me going, peps me up, makes me want to play. Several years ago Mike gave his starter kit to AJ because he wanted to learn. As much as Mike loved playing he gave his set to somebody else. That’s the kind of guy he is. Just before the quarantine took effect Mike called to ask my opinion on a few kits because he was really Jonesing to have a set again. Long story short, I gave him my Gretsch kit. Only today did we feel it was safe enough for him to pick up. I bought the kit in 2009 and named it Gregg for my friend and bandmate Gregg Fulkerson who had just passed at the time. It’s a beautiful set and they’ve served me very well. I can’t tell you the immense pleasure in giving those drums to Mike. He will love them and play them for a very long time I’m sure. He, Missy, and Macie even took the opportunity to go next door and wave at mom and dad. We practice good social distancing in this family. Worry not, I still have my faithful Yamaha’s that have traveled the roads with me for 35 years (they’ll be 35 in August in fact). I’ll never stop playing. I’m just fortunate enough to share the drumming wealth. There’s nobody I’d rather share with than Mike.
