“Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.” ~ Dalai Lama
Yesterday wasn’t just about finding the ancestors. It was also about visiting with those still with us. Our day started with a visit to Minnie Adkins. Minnie and Pam go way back, and she drove us to Minnie’s Paradise on Earth in Elliott County. The two women are very similar in their ability to help others, especially artists. Ever aware of those whose talents are sometimes overlooked, the pair have made it part of their life’s work to lift others as their own boats were rising. Jen had not met Minnie before, but being a lover of all things art, it was a must that they meet. I hadn’t seen Minnie in several years because Minnie Day always falls on a weekend when I have had other responsibilities. How that has managed to happen every year is beyond me. Regardless of my tardiness, we picked up where we left off, and seeing her again warmed my heart beyond measure. Minnie showed us around her studio and gave us each a big bag of apples. She even gifted Jen and me with two of her blue roosters. A high honor indeed! Yesterday with Minnie was extraordinarily special, and a delight for us all. Thank you for making it happen, Pam.
