I spent six hours in the yard today. Most of the leaves got pushed to the curb or done away with in some other fashion, Most importantly the fruit trees were pruned. This was the first pruning for my apple trees (The Grandmothers), and my smallest peach tree given to me by Pam Oldfield Meade. The largest of the peach trees, Orville, took the most dramatic cut. So much so that my neighbor walked out and asked if I was cutting it down. Nope, peach trees in Kentucky have to be severely pruned if you want them to bear fruit that matures, and of course, I have squirrels to feed so they’ll be wanting mature fruit. And, the picture of the jellyfish? It has absolutely nothing to do with today. I am so sore, and worked so much, that I didn’t have it in me to take a pic of the freshly shorn trees (plus, it was dark before I finished). But this little Jellyfish and I met when I was at the Aquarium in Long Beach. Now, I think I’ll go collapse and dream of a steaming, deep claw-foot tub (a bucket list item) laced with epsom salts.
