I’ve spent the weekend listening through nearly twelve hours of oral history interviews Gurney and I did together ten years ago. Then I went looking for photos I’ve taken of him over the years to piece together with his voice for his upcoming memorial. He was such a unique man, able to articulate both complex and simple human conditions with a tenderness you don’t find in many people. What a gift he was to this world.
