We had another field day in Winchester, and as we were walking down an alley, I was captivated by this little business building. It’s not a particularly attractive building, architecturally special or intricate. It’s certainly not flashy. I think it’s the very sort of vernacular architecture that attracted me to this field in the first place. It’s a normal, nondescript, fully functional, useful building that ordinary people and businesses can use. It’s special because it’s ordinary. Ordinary doesn’t get nearly the love it ought, in buildings or people.
