Sometimes rainbows don’t reach the ground. As we approached Chicago from Madison, we encountered a few decorator clouds. I looked out my window and that’s when I saw it: the jet’s shadow encircled by a rainbow. I just thought it was the coolest sight, and a harbinger of good things to come. It started with a fly over of beautiful Lake Michigan.
