Yesterday was the first day of October and the temperature was 98. For the first time in recorded history, there was no appreciable rainfall measured in Lexington during the entire month of September. Today, the temp was 99 and not a drop of rain. We’re supposed to have a cold front move through on Friday, but it brings no rain. Not only is the grass dead – with burn bans in effect – but the trees are dying, too. Dear Mother Nature, please don’t take the trees. I love them and so do the squirrels.
