“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn how to surf.” ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn

Not only does Nietzsche and his lava lamp do gigs with The Radical Departures, but our rehearsal space is brightened by traditional Tibetan prayer flags as well. If you’re unfamiliar, these particular prayer flags are believed “to bring happiness, peace, prosperity, good fortune, health and victory over obstacles.” Many people make their own prayer flags for similar reasons, or perhaps they simply like the artistry of them. Indeed, the act of making prayer flags can be quite peaceful and meditative. Whatever the case may be, for me, prayer flags represent a warm welcome to all who enter. These prayer flags have brought only good fortune while I’ve been in their presence, and hey, they come with a groovy horse that looks amazingly similar to the rocking horse I had as a baby. How much luckier could I be?
