“You don’t really make change out of anger and bitterness.
You make it out of love and compassion and hope.”
~ Judi Jennings
After a successful morning of presentations with some truly fantastic people – Christian Lopez (GA), Steven Seiliff (TX), Doug Boyd (KY) and Sarah Milligan (KY) – Judy Sackett and I headed for water. Madison is sandwiched between two lakes, Mendota (above) and Monona. The University of Wisconsin shares a shoreline with Mendota, its docks from which people seem to learn the art of sailing. It was a stunningly perfect day to be in the sun. It was a perfect day for friendships, new and old. I really, really like Madison (I did even before this trip), and I really like everyone I’ve met at the Oral History Association conference. I want to give a special shout out to my old friend, Judi Jennings, who was awarded the Milner award from the Kentucky Governor’s Awards in the Arts. I couldn’t be more proud. Cheers, Judi! You deserve it.
