It’s hard to believe it’s the first day of September. I awoke to Sen. John McCain’s funeral broadcast. I bawled in my coffee as his daughter, Meghan, gave an impassioned eulogy with a range of adjectives; sorrow, grief, love, anger, pain, gratefulness. “The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great,” she said. One sentence summed up the consciousness of a nation, or at least my sentiments over the last year-ish. That’s just one reason why so many will miss the likes of John McCain. I will simply say thank you to Sen. McCain for your service, your courage, your imperfections, your intellect, your humor, and most of all for leading by example. We’ve got a lot to live up to.
