Southland Drive is home to Shriner’s Oleika Temple. Many years ago, Mom’s uncle Randy was an officer in this Shrine and championed many a fundraiser for their children’s hospital, hence the statue with the child. Today, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital is part of the UK system, but I’m sure the Shriners still support it in some way. I’d love to know if this building’s unique facade is original. The reason I think it might not be is because the tower is aesthetically different, and the texture of the rest of the building looks modern. I’ll have to do some research on that, but for now, I’m whooped and going to bed.
