“Knowing who you are ends the need to prove it.” ~ Molesey Bridgette

remembrance

As Shero and I waited for the world’s worst variety show to start last night, we reflected on the significance of 9/11 in American history. She turned to me and asked, “Where were you?” We had not talked about it since it happened, and that was nearly a quarter of a century ago now. After I told her my story, I asked for hers. Our stories were similar and undoubtedly reflect the experiences of the majority of working-age adults in the United States in 2001. We were both at work, working, then watching events unfold on a TV in a colleague’s office for the rest of the day. No one alive that day will likely forget even the most minor details of 9/11. It sure doesn’t seem that long ago. I wish our country were today as united as we were on September 12, 2001. A girl can dream.
