“Ego says ‘Once everything falls into place, I’ll feel peace.’
Spirit says, “Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place.’

When we salvaged belongings from Mamaw’s house after the tornado we piled it all into mom and dad’s basement. In the spring, when we moved Aunt Janet into the new house, we didn’t move back everything we had taken out. We moved only what she wanted. That left almost everything in the basement. Everyday since mom rummages through the remains. A product of the Great Depression, Mamaw was well known for keeping absolutely everything; Kleenex, tin foil, gift wrap, you name it, she was the recycle queen. Weeding through it is no small job, but occasionally mom will find meaningful things like this unusual wall hanging. It belonged to my great-grandmother Minnie Risner Adams. No one wanted it when she died, so Papaw took it. Immediately placed in their kitchen, it remained untouched surrounded by pine trees and caved ceiling. It now protects my kitchen wall. This makes me very, very happy.
