“Make a habit of reaching out to people just because they crossed your mind.” ~ Unknown
Day one of NDNP is in the books, and it was as sweet as I thought it would be. I had the chance to see some of my dearest colleagues and friends and have dinner with a few of them, too, like Mary Feeney, center (Arizona), and Deb Thomas, far right (Library of Congress). Somewhere behind us was Ana Krahmer (Texas), and across from me was Laura Weakley (Nebraska), John Winstead (Kentucky), and a dude whose name none of us could remember, but we knew he was from Maine, so we left the night calling him simply… Maine. So many people in the program today are new (to me), but apparently, they know me. One gentleman from New Hampshire said, “I recognize your voice. I’ve watched all your tutorials. It’s nice to meet you in person.” Another young woman came over and said, “I wanted to meet you in person. I’ve watched all your tutorials, and I have my staff watch your tutorials, too. I just wanted to meet you finally.” It’s really heartening to know I’ve contributed so much to the program. Being among these fine folks has been the biggest honor of my professional librarian life. I couldn’t ask for better colleagues or a better experience.
