In Lexington’s Distillery District off Manchester Street sits a revitalized James E. Pepper Distillery. The buildings today house the Pepper Distillery, Ethereal Brewing and a variety of other small tap rooms, Goodfella’s Pizza, and Crank & Boom Ice Cream. The old rickhouse contains a host of new businesses with more on the way. You’ve heard me talk about this place before, but I didn’t know there is space above the Distillery that has been converted into an Air B&B. That’s where the bridal party staged their readiness for yesterday’s wedding, and let me tell you, it was brilliant. Kudos to the architect that envisioned the space as a livable space, and kudos to the designer who brought it to life. This is just a shot of the view from one of four balconies that overlook the distillery property along Town Branch. The wedding was held at Wise Bird Brewing in the old rickhouse. I was dubious about a wedding here, but again, kudos to the designers for their vision, and to Gina the wedding planner for making the brilliant day work to a T. This whole complex of buildings is one of the best examples of adaptive reuse that Lexington has seen to date, and I would tell anyone who wants an urban wedding with a super relaxed feel to do it here. Also, after a twelve-hour day, nearly all of it on my feet outside with cameras in both hands, I can honestly say I feel my age today. Actually, I’m walking a bit like my 80-year-old mother and I’m just as tired. Still, I’m really glad I did it because it was one of the coolest, most exciting and adventurous weddings I’ve ever been to, and of course, I’m always happy to help HRB Crystal. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to collapse into my bed again.
