“Hopelessness gets nothing done. As long as there is breath in our bodies, there is hope. Without hope, there is nothing. Find a little hope somewhere (it’s around). Break off a little piece. Give it to somebody. Keep a little for yourself.” ~ John Lackey

wedding crasher #1

The one drawback of having a wedding at the Pepper Distillery is the possibility of wedding crashers. That hadn’t occurred to me until it happened, not just once, but countless times throughout the night. There was a wide variety of characters among them, starting with the dude on the motorcycle who came driving through the wedding party as we were doing photos. The two women who wandered in from Lexington’s Pride Festival downtown managed to get in my way during most of the night’s dancing shots. And while the rainbow tutu and pigtails were special, the constant dancing was not. Fortunately, the old dude in the USA t-shirt, shorts, and half-calf socks tired much quicker and went away as silently as he entered. Most of the wedding crashers were respectful, staying out on the sidewalk to simply observe the party, though every once in a while one would sneak their way into the fray of gyrating bodies, do a bad watusi, and then slink away quietly just to see if they could get away with it. Everyone knew there were interlopers and nobody cared because this wedding really was about love. True love. And everyone was welcomed to the party just as love is supposed to do, even if you drive your motorcycle right through it. That’s good people.
