“Happiness comes when we stop complaining about the troubles we have and offer thanks for all the troubles we don’t have.” ~ Thomas Monson
I haven’t talked nearly enough about my little cousin Jessica Terry Stigall. She’s at least 12 years younger, so she’ll always be little to me (she’s several inches taller than me, though you can’t tell it here). Anyway, Jess has been a nurse for decades and is exceptionally skilled at her job. Everybody was worried about my arm wounds yesterday, but Jess assured them that my arm wouldn’t fall off. We had a lovely time as our elders mingled and tried to stay cool in the shade, comparing migraine notes (she has them way worse than I do). She is one of the kindest people I have ever known, and she has Ninja-like listening skills. I suppose that comes with the job. She’s very calm and thoughtful in her speech, too, and she makes sure her mother, Linda Gail, widow of Uncle Phillip, is well taken care of. She does things like driving her to the family gathering on the Fourth of July, for instance. Jess has raised two equally exceptional children, both of whom are now in college. Her son, Logan, is set to become the first doctor in the family. Her daughter Lyndsey is her “mini me.” She is also going into the medical arts. Finally, a branch of the family is interested in healing while the rest of us are all over the map – lol. Professions aside, I value Jessica’s heart and compassion beyond all telling. I’m so grateful she’s family.
