“My future starts when I wake up every morning.” ~ Miles Davis

new bird species

I met with a roofer, Tim, today after Monday’s uninvited water feature in the bedroom, courtesy of the flash flood. There are two other spots that have leaked in the past year during unusually heavy downpours or rain from the east, nothing like Monday, but enough for me to notice. Apparently, when a roof reaches the end of its life, this sort of thing happens; springing leaks left and right. I was doing the dishes while Tim was inspecting the roof. Lord Basil was in the backyard, and I saw him looking up at the roof as he slowly backed away from the house. I could see the distress on his face. Roofers these days don’t shimmy up a ladder to inspect a roof anymore, at least Tim didn’t. He used a drone. I stepped outside to take a look. Amazingly, the drone returned pretty convincing photos of a multitude of failures. I’ll now be donating plasma and eating ramen noodles for a year to pay for the new roof, but Lord Basil must have dry accommodations, and dry accommodations he will have.
