This was the moment UK Interior Design Professor Patrick Lee Lucas, the author of Athens on the Frontier, announced he’d recently received his first royalty check of twenty-six dollars and change. I hated to upstage him by saying my first—and to date only—royalty check was $5.34. I never cashed it. Why would I? It’s funnier to see it in my scrapbook. By the way, Patrick is a very engaging speaker and, obviously, a dapper dresser. Check him out if you’re near a reading. He’s also an actor, and you might catch him in local productions from time to time.
