Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you.
And sometimes, when you fall, you fly.” ~Neil Gaiman

Puka shell chokers were very popular in the 1970’s. I had a cheap knock off, but we couldn’t afford a real one, or even a fancy fake. I mentioned this in passing to Stacy Yelton sometime last year. At Christmas, to my utter surprise, she gave me a real puka shell necklace. This from a woman who was still unemployed and terrified for her future, yet she took my story to heart and gave me a truly meaningful gift. Finally, the season is right, and I proudly wore it for the first time today.
