Who should walk into the Lyric yesterday but Roberta Taylor, my beloved friend. You remember Roberta as the nurse for Shero and me. I have only ever seen her at the doctor’s office, but seeing her out in the wild was like a breath of fresh air. I hugged her, and I didn’t want to let go. When I decided to retire, I told Roberta because we had vowed to tell each other when we decided to leave UK. Roberta is just a little older than me, and we’ve had many conversations about working for the University and what we’d like to do after we depart. Like me, Roberta loves photography, and she’ll eventually be ready to travel, camera in hand, and enjoy her life. I want that for her. I also want to see her out in the wild more often because she is such a light in this world. We need more Robertas.
