I’ve been working on an oral history project called gig economy workers in the era of Covid-19. I’m talking to a huge range of artists (musicians, actors, artists) and the people who make their gigs happen (sound, lighting, costume) from around the country. This evening, as I was waiting for my interviewee to arrive to our session, I looked up and saw Wally staring at my back and looking bored out of his little mind. He made me laugh. Fortunately, my side of the video doesn’t appear in the final product, so Wally has to keep waiting for his Mr. DeMille moment. And yes, that’s the Great British Baking Show on TV.
